There are many enlightened souls in this world who can teach others what they need to know.
I believe that, if you can find a guru who has a small following, or, perhaps even no following yet, and you believe that he has some knowledge that you lack, you are better off choosing such a one as your guru.
Is it not better to have a guru who can give you individual attention? Who can answer your specific questions and concerns?
I am very fortunate to have found a godly person who has given up his business life in order to serve. He is very humble, compassionate and knowledgeable, and he has the time to talk with me directly.
By having his darshan, being able to sit next to him, interacting with him, and seeing how he lives; I can learn directly from his example as well as his teachings.
Selfishly, I pray that his following will not become too large, as this personal interaction will then, of necessity be greatly diminished.
