River Ganga is called Changa in Tibet/Chinese. Changa means the Strong one.

Khan is derived from Karn. If you pronounce it slowly Kar of Karn and Kh or Khan sound similar.

Genghis Khan was also called Changis Khan. He might have selected this title Changis from Changa(Ganga) and Khan from Karn. Hence Changis Khan.

Even in English Ganga is called Ganges and Changis called Ghenghis. Ganges and Ghengis sounds similar.

Genghis Khan was an Animist like Nag vanshi of Mahabharat. Genghis Khan was not a Muslim or Christain. This might be one of the reason why he did not attacked India Mainland. He attacked Afghanistan to drive away Shah a muslim.

Animist is like Tantric culture of northeastern Indian states and southern India.

Even Genghis Khan's great grandson Khubilai Khan who followed buddhism never attacked India. It was after Khubilai Khan when other group of the Genghis Khan descendants were converted into Islam attacked India. The original four great khans never attacked India. Probably they might be respecting the Holy Land of India where the river ganges flows.

Karn was the only great warrior of Mahabharat.

In an incident which took place during the war between Karna and Arjuna, Arjuna's chariot was hit by Karna's arrows and was displaced a few meters backwards from the impact of the arrows. At that time Lord Krishna, who was driving Arjuna's chartiot, praised Karna for his feat. Arjuna, whose arrows had displaced Karna's chariot by several hundred meters, was shocked at Krishna's praise for Karna and questioned him. Krishna said "Arjuna, I myself who own the whole weight of the entire Universe am sitting on your chariot and your chariot is covered by the blessing of Lord Hanuman. Without these two factors, Karna's arrows would have hurled your chariot off the Earth."

It is further mentioned that Karna was capable of defeating Jarasandha in single combat whereas Bheema defeated Jarasandha with the help of Krishan. Karna was the first one to expose the weakness of Jarasandha. Finally, Parashurama, before cursing him, had mentioned to Karna that he was his (Parashurama's) complete equal.

During his stay in Visnhuavatar Parashurama's hermitage, Karna befriended many Rakshasas,Yakshas,Gandharvas & Nagas. That is the reason why the name Karn was familiar to them has Khan. Han was derived from Karn and later on Khan was derived from Han or directly from Karn.

Karna had conquered many foreign states till Kazakhstan and most of the central asian countries for Duryodhana. This was the reason why most of them sided with Duryondhana as his allies. After the war these states were again splitted. Later on some of them were again merged by Arjuna. But Karna was the first one the bring them under his strength and will power due to which he was praised as the most skillful warrior much better than the Pandavas in the art of fighting. Karn's war skills might be reason why people of central asia adopted his name and formed Han, Hun and Khan.

Also, Genghis Khan was Animist and not Muslim. He himself had slaugthered many muslims and christans. Animist is one of the religion that is particed in Sikkim, Arunachal Pradesh and in ancient times even in Assam. Like Buddhism, Jainism and Animism is the part of Hinduism. Animism is like Tantric culture. Hence Genghis Khan is also a Hindu. The communist government had stopped the mongolian and chinese people from continuing Khan surname hence this name is lost in China and Mongolia otherwise even many of them are khan's but Buddhist, Taoist, Confuscian and Animist Khan and not the Muslim Khan. Some of the people over here when they were converted into Islam they took the surname as Khan they are not actually genetically related to Genghis Khan.

Also, Genghis Khan was the follower of Buddhism and earlier he was a follower Shamanism(animism something like trantric culture a part of Hinduism) which was spreaded from Bengal to Mongolia and to Japan. Shamanism(Animism something like trantric) sounds similar to shramanism(Buddhism and Jainism) but different from animism. Inspite of knowing about Indian he never wanted to attack the holy land of India. He went and attacked muslim and christanity. He caused so much damage to their leadership that their religion was at the verge of extinction. Hence all the Muslim Khans should go back to Hinduism and follow the culture that genghis khan has set. They should respect Holy Land of India.
