Am doing my final semester MBA project titled - The Effect of 'Faith in Absolute' in Organisational Effectivness. Am a final semester student at School of Management Studies, University of Hyderabad. How I came to this project:
1: After reading the book Management by Values by Sri. S. K. Chakraborty. There he mentions the case about Ramakrishna Mission/Math where he speaks about RKMM being founded on certain principles when there was not much study was done on organisational hierarchy, effectiveness etc. He speaks about the concept of faith, respect etc.

2: In one of his books written two decaded back, Tom Peters
mentions the fact that it is necessary to cut down the management hierarchy layers. He gives the example of Roman Catholic Church which has around 5 hierarchial layers but still is effective as an organisation. I was thinking whether the effectiveness is becuase of the hierarchy layers or becuase of other factors like faith, sacrifice etc....

3: In a book on Leadership written by a former Lieutenant General of Indian Army, there is an interesting mentioning. Its like this - Near Sathya Sai Institute of Higher Learning, Puttaparthi there was a major super specialty hospital project which was supposed to complete in one year, but due to certain reasons the project was not able to move in the first six months. Then the Chancellor intervened and the project gets completed in a span of six months. Later on Chancellor comes with a note from the President of India saying that if Govt. of India has taken up that project it would have taken at least 5 years to complete the project. The author who was there at that point of time, mentions the fact that this will be an excellent case study on management for students of MBA at Sathya Sai Institute of Higher Learning. The Chancellor intervenes and says some Sanskrit shloka (i do remember
what was that), which goes on to says that it is nothing but sacrifice that led to the accomplishment of this feat.
