Shashti Pooja

On shasti or sixth day, the devotee should offer to a bilva tree substances such as clay, sandalwood paste, pebbles, coriander, druva grass, flowers, fruits, curds, ghee, svastika, vermillion, conch-shell, collyrium, rosana (yellow paste), mustard seeds, gold, silver, copper, whisk, mirror, lamp and a broad plate.

The devotee then makes a bundle consisting of plantain, pomegranate, coriander, turmeric, arum indicum, arum colocacia, bilva, Asoka and jayanti. Each plant is added as mantras are chanted. The devotee then worships the bundle as well as the image of Devi as she is awakened on the sixth day or sashti.
